Wait, I can major in Game Design?

Over the last 15 years, we have seen a lot of growth into digital careers, specifically with advent of taking online classes. Now employers are looking for graduates who specialize in digital careers. Majors at universities include: “New Media” “Computer Game Design” and “Cyber Security” are a few of the fields that have popped up over the last couple of years. These fields can be found at private and public universities.

To me, with specialization becoming almost a priority in any field, this seems like a no brainer. Universities have become a specialization machine’s. Rather than having a blanket degree, there is an opportunity to focus on one or two things and use that as entry into the field. The field of computer game design is expected to bring in $82.5 billion globally by 2015. It would make sense for a university to realize a potential “in” for their student population.
