11Oct11

http://www.xiami.com/ The users for this music website reached 5 millions last month. It functions like http://www.last.fm except that it does not pay musicians any money . Xiami encourage users to upload the music to the website by themselves and make an announcement in its webpage that for the reason that users upload songs to the website, so there is no relationship between the musicians and the website. If there are some copyright issues, there is nothing to do with the website.  The website never contact indie musicians and pay fees for copyright.

Also, users download songs with the virtual currency(which could be bought by real money). In this way, the website only make money without spending it on copyright. The consumer spend on China’s digital music for about $2.74 billion dollars, but only  1.57%  among them is collected by labels, publishers and artists.
